Mayflower Cemetery Expansion Receives $800,000 For New Burial Space
Monday, March 16, 2026
Key Points
- $800,000 for Mayflower Cemetery expansion
- Funded by the Sale of Lots and Graves Fund
- Necessary due to lack of remaining burial and columbarium space
Article 17 was approved by voters, allocating $800,000 from the Sale of Lots and Graves Fund to expand the Mayflower Cemetery. Cemetery Trustee B. Hayes informed Town Meeting that the currently developed portions of the cemetery are nearly full, leaving no columbarium spaces or traditional burial plots left for purchase.
The expansion project will develop new sections of the cemetery grounds to meet future demand. Because the funding comes from a dedicated fund rather than the general tax levy, the project does not impact the property tax rate.
